So far, Katibawasan Falls is the best falls I’ve seen in my life. Yes, Tinuy-an Falls is one of the greatest creations of God but Katibawasan offers a a perfect summer splash experience for both adults and children. This 250-feet falls is located at the foot of Mt.Timpoon, Camiguin Island. It is surrounded by trees, roots, ferns and flowers giving you a 180- degrees picturesque. I came a little bit late for I was spending a lot of time shopping at the souvenir stores which you will encounter in every corner of Camiguin. There I was, chasing the light while taking pictures since the sun was setting down. Still, I was able to take some good photos of it. Katibawasan Falls is maintained by the local government of Camiguin. P15-peso entrance fee is not bad. It is enough to finance to maintain the virginity of the falls. Once you enter the gate, a wild monkey welcomes the tourists asking you for a banana throw but be sure to stay 2 meters away from him. You will be in trouble if you insist. The cold breeze of air embraced the whole area forcing us to warm up ourselves. Thanks Tanduay rhum! I couldn’t take the coldness of the water so I was spending the rest of my time staring the wide rocks that support the falls. It gives you an illusive effect. It seems like the falls will collapse maybe because of its structure. The formation is like leaning on you. Feels [...]

The ‘byernis santo’ or the good Friday superstition didn’t stop me in exploring the stunning Tinuy-an Falls sited at Burboanan Bislig City. It’s a 50- minute ride from poblacion if taking the usual route to tinuy-an falls. Watch the deviant travellers on youtube “Byirnes Santo in Tinuy-an Falls” << Click Here. Along the way, you could feel how wonderful the place is. The mountains are so green and the air is very soothing. This comforting atmosphere added to my excitement for I would at last experience to capture tinuy-an falls not just through the lens of my camera but also through my very eyes. While I was on my way, many things played in my mind as to how would it really look like and how can I really get closer to the falling water of tinuy-an as I can see in photos of other travellers. Does it have cottages around or mini sari sari store nearby? The wildest thought was why do they call it ‘tinuy-an’? My questions were all answered when I arrived. Different vehicles were parked already while the fogs kept on cooling the place. My excitement this time was doubled. I rushed to the area and a gigantic water falls welcomed me. I was like a little baby who wanted to jump off to the cold flowing water while viewing this unbelievable mother nature of ours. Unfortunately, there are scenarios that so destructive in my vacation. The cottages were running out so some groups installed their tents [...]
Very enchanting.Spectacular.Five stars recommended. My travel to this enchanting paradise in Hinataun Surigao del Sur revitalized my senses as I was being re oriented once again with the nature’s splendour. Introducing the Enchanted River. WATCH MY UNDERWATER VIDEOGRAPHY Sited in Hinatuan, people called the river enchanted because of its indisputably enthralling nature’s masterpiece. The bluish water conveys that it is not shallow. This 85 feet deep river scares most of the tourists for it seems you will be swallowed when you dive. Yet, this feeling didn’t stop me to jump and feel the coldness of this pure water. As per the native, the water is actually coming from the sipped stored water in the mountain and from rainfalls.. “Bugwak” is the term in vernacular which means a water is being released out. So, there is no reason to this river to gulp down anyone. It was almost seven hour drive from Davao City cruising Tagum,Mawab,Mongkayo,Montevista,Trento, Bunawan Agusan, San Franciso going to Hinatuan. From 11pm night to 7am. The original route was via Picop road going to Mangagoy, Bislig City but as per the advice of the ‘kamayos’, track the safe road even how far will it take you rather than passing an easy access that is rough, silent and rebels territory. There were several travellers who have been held up and left lifeless in this short cut. Then, we headed to Agusan del Sur for another 60 km distance before Hinatuan. The fresh air of Surigao welcomed devianttraveler.com. The seek for [...]
Nature’s best. Indeed. While we were on our way going to Hagimit Falls in IGACOS, I was thinking of another hiking experience. Thinking of what the best suit to wear. It was my first time so I did prepare. Too funny to think about, it is just a few steps down from the entrance gate. At the back of my senses, I laughed. A message came out from my very mind “tanga!”. So, camera ready and I took pictures of the nature’s best. Until, I found a big yellow information board dubbed as ” An Inspired Memories”. I did read it. And, it goes like this. “An Inspired Memories” ( History of Hagimit Falls ). The late Fortunato Batucan,Sr., a hardworking husband of Lola Goyang, a father of 14 children cultivated this place as early as 1950′s. Unfortunately, he passed awat by a struck of a killer lightning. After his untimely death, his son named Glicerio Batucan, Sr. took over the footsteps of his father and continue cultivating this place. Besides, he even ventures local business like sari sari store, passenger jeepney, and operated a few motorizes boats bearing the name of EAGLE transporting passengers and cargo from Samal to Davao and vice versa. He also served as maintenance plumber of the defunct NAWASA, a water sytem operated by local gov’t of former Municipality of Samal which provide water supply in Poblacion of Peñaplata, which he dutifully been a repairman for many years in the main source (tinubdan) of Hagimit.
